DAY 1.Trip from La Paz going southwest through the highlands in bus to Oruro (3 ½ hours), then train to Uyuni (6-7 hours), crossing a big portion of the highlands. Overnight in hotel. (L)

DAY 2. Trip to Colchani, to see locals producing salt, enter the great white saltflat crossing to “Isla Incahuasi” (2 hours), a special habitat of volcanic rock and giant cactus.  Then north to see the mummies of Coquesa in the foothills of the Tunupa volcano. Return to Uyuni (2 hours), overnight in hotel.  (BL)

DAY 3.Trip crossing branches of the Andes Range with great landscapes, old mines and Indian villages to Potosi (4 hours). In the afternoon visit of the colonial city, seeing the Mint House, colonial churches and the local market. (BL)

DAY 4.Visit a mine to see remains of the silver production in the famous Silver Mountain. Afternoon bus to Sucre (3 hours), nice colonial city, set in the lower valleys. (B)

DAY 5. Half day city tour, visiting the cathedral and church of la Recoleta and its museums, the cemetery, and the Indian Textile museum of ASUR. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
