Day 1. Santa Cruz, Samaipata, Vallegrande

  • Starting from Santa Cruz, you will travel towards Samaipata (120 km – 3 hours).
  • The first stop will be at the ruins of “El Fuerte”. This amazing place offers incredible views. You will have time to explore the greatest example of pre- Hispanic architecture on a rock in South America. It was declared Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
  • Then, you will continue to Samaipata where you will visit the museum and enjoy this beautiful town.
  • Our next stop is 3 hours away; Vallegrande. Its name comes from colonial times due to the great valley between the mountains that cross the territory.
  • Overnight at Plaza Pueblo Hotel, where dinner will be served.

Day 2. Vallegrande, El Churo, La Higuera, Vallegrande

  • After a hearty breakfast, your day will begin with a road trip to La Higuera (3 hours and a half). Throughout this trip you will be able to see many picturesque villages such as; Guadalupe, El Cruce and Pucará, with undeniable majestic views of the landscapes.
  • Upon arrival to La Higuera (110 inhabitants) you will visit “La Escuelita” where Che was executed on October 9, 1967. You will also visit the community’s museum.
  • You will enjoy a delicious lunch before you start a hike towards Quebrada del Churo or Yuro (2 km.). This is where El Che was wounded and taken prisoner before his death.
  • Overnight at Plaza Pueblo Hotel, where dinner will be served.

Day 3. Valle Grande, Santa Cruz

  • Today, before you return to Santa Cruz, you will visit the airport where the human remains of Che Guevara were found and other historical monuments such as The Laundry, where his body remained until his funeral.
