This 6-day and 5-night tour offers a visit to San Javier; the first missionary city of the Jesuits, to Concepción; Cultural Heritage of the Humanity and many other visits. It is an extended tour that has perfectly included 7 additional visits to unique churches such as; San Ignacio de Velasco, San Rafael and San José de Chiquitos, all of them represent a historical depth, diversity and culture. In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend an evening mass in San Ignacio de Velasco to have the complete experience. On the last day of this tour you will visit Aguas Calientes, this is a natural hot spring that contains medicinal properties due to its concentration of minerals.

Day 1. Santa Cruz, San Javier, Concepción

  • Today you will cross Chiquitania, passing through Rio Grande and San Ramón to the Jesuit Mission of San Javier. It is a beautiful colonial city with a historic church, declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO.
  • Traveling through savannas and forests you will reach the city of Concepción; the largest missionary center, which offers amazing views of the Jesuit church. This is a true jewel of the 18th century.
  • This visit will be complemented by the missionary museum where the original scores of Renaissance Baroque music are still preserved.
  • Overnight at “Gran Hotel Concepción” where dinner will be served.
  • Includes: Lunch, dinner and lodging.


Day 2. Concepción, San Ignacio de Velasco, San Miguel, San Ignacio de Velasco

  • After breakfast, our first stop will at Santa Rita community. Here, you will witness the skillful traditional production of textiles with cotton fiber and natural ocher produced by the local artisan women.
  • Back to San Ignacio where the day will end with a visit to the church during Mass.
  • Overnight at “La Misión” hotel where dinner will be served
  • Includes: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and lodging.


Day 3. San Ignacio de Velasco, Santa Ana, San Rafael, San José de Chiquitos

  • You will go to Santa Ana (1 hour) and visit the only church that has been built by indigenous and mestizos despite having been initiated by the Jesuits. This church has a beautiful rustic appearance and is smaller than the other ones.
  • Our next stop; San Rafael (40 min.). Both of its churches are also a world heritage site.
  • Our road trip will continue toward San José de Chiquitos (4½ hours), crossing the plains of Chiquitos from north to south.
  • Overnight at Villa Chiquitana hotel where dinner will be served.

Day 4. San José de Chiquitos - Chochis Sanctuary - Santiago de Chiquitos

  • This day will be very special. There is a missionary complex in San José de Chiquitos, that includes a church and a museum. Both are known to be one of the oldest in the area; founded in 1696. The church and the museum were also declared World Heritage by UNESCO. During your visit you will see that this church is different from the others, since it is the only one that has been built with stone and lime.
  • Next, you will visit the Catholic sanctuary located at the foot of Chochís hill. This sanctuary presents a collection of wood carvings, showing the great legacy left by the Jesuits, who taught the art to evangelized locals. His church was built in gratitude to the Virgin of Asunción and in memory of those disappeared in the floods of 1979.
  • The trip will continue towards Santiago de Chiquitos (1 hour), home to a small and rustic church (the best preserved). Here you will also be able to see local crafts in a small town called “La Perla de Oriente”. Its name reflects the development of its booming population.
  • In the afternoon, you will walk to the viewpoint of the Tucabaca Municipal Reserve (2 hours) where you can appreciate the vast Bolivian Chiquitania and photograph the moment.
  • Overnight at Beulá Hotel where dinner will be served.

Day 5. Santiago de Chiquitos

  • Day at Leisure at Santiago to explore its beautiful surroundings.
  • You can visit: Pozas de Agua, El Manantial (natural water wells), Los Arcos (Stunning rock figures sculpted by the wind and water) and Las Cuevas.
  • Overnight at Beula Hotel.
  • Includes: Breakfast.


Day 6. Santiago de Chiquitos, Aguas Calientes, Santa Cruz

  • Todayt you will visit Aguas Calientes (30 min). These are beautiful natural hot springs known for their medicinal properties (high mineral content).
  • Enjoy a relaxing bath  and lunch before returning to Santa Cruz (5  and a half hours)
  • Includes: Breakfast and lunch.
